Overview:
It is beneficial for both us and for our clients to work with others in the building industry. The end result is a better quality product and a better price. We work with specialty contractors, mechanical contractors, building associations, and consult other general contractors in difficult situations.
Mechanical/Trade Contractors:
Being contractors in King County we are required to subcontract certain activities that require extensive special knowledge and experience. These activities include:
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- HVAC
We have close relationships with specialized companies that we continuously work with and trust in the above fields. However, if you have someone that you would prefer do the above tasks, we are happy to work with them upon meeting them and visiting one of their job sites.
Specialty Contractors:
HM custom will always preform carpentry tasks with direct employees such as all millwork (finish carpentry), rough framing, and intricate or specialty details. Direct employees also provide jobsite set up and project closeout tasks, as well as anything that needs to be done between trade tasks.
Specialty contractors such as drywall hangers, drywall finishers, painters, tilers (Full list here), are subcontracted out through HM Custom. Our relationships provide us the ability to properly achieve your project goals and obtain the proper price to quality ratio that you are looking for. During an initial meeting or in the planning process we strive to explain the intricacies of naming your goals while at the same time simplifying craftsmanship quality and leaving out certain details that do not pertain to your project.
Building associations we are activity part of:
Master Builders Association (MBA) of King County. Through the MBA we are able to give back to our community and influence building techniques/codes in a thoughtful manner. We receive local updates on building changes in King County and many educational services. The MBA also provides us with meeting spaces and various benefits that help us produce an excellent product. Perhaps most importantly, as members of the MBA we are part of a tight-knit community of other passionate contractors and builders.
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) : The NAHB is one of the largest national home building associations. Through the NAHB we participate in decisions on the national level, and receive regular notifications on safety regulations, recalls, general building advancements and new technologies.
Building Industry Association of Washington : As a member of this Washington State collective building association, we are able to influence and participate in deciding the fate of buildings and land use in Washington State.
Influencing our community:
We give back to our community and keep up to date on green building techniques through GreenWA and Built Green which are both affiliated with the MBA. We are also active in attending national and regional building conferences where we are given the change to discuss, define and dispute best building practices with fellow peers and on specified platforms. We are passionate about reading, writing and discussing with fellow builders, architects, designers and manufactures through online communities or on phone conversation.
